WASHINGTON – El 29 de abril, Estados Unidos y Ecuador celebraron la quinta reunión del Consejo de Comercio e Inversiones (TIC) entre Estados Unidos y Ecuador. La delegación de Estados Unidos estuvo encabezada por Cara Morrow, Asesora Principal de la Oficina del Representante de Comercio de Estados Unidos, y la delegación ecuatoriana fue dirigida por la Ministra de Producción, Comercio Exterior, Inversiones y Pesca, Sonsoles García. Ambas delegaciones incluyeron funcionarios de otras agencias relevantes.

Esta reunión resaltó la importancia de la relación entre Ecuador y Estados Unidos, así como nuestra continua cooperación en asuntos bilaterales, incluida la implementación del Protocolo sobre Reglas de Comercio y Transparencia bajo el TIC, y nuestro compromiso con la colaboración regional en la Asociación para la Prosperidad Económica de las Américas.

 Se llevaron a cabo diálogos técnicos sobre agricultura, propiedad intelectual, temas laborales y medio ambiente. Además, se establecieron Comités bilaterales sobre Asuntos Laborales, Medio Ambiente y Comercio Justo. A través de estos diálogos, ambos países reafirmaron su compromiso compartido de perseguir una política comercial bilateral que sea resiliente, apoye a los trabajadores, proteja nuestro medio ambiente compartido y fomente un crecimiento equitativo. Ambos países acordaron continuar los diálogos técnicos dentro del marco de estos Comités para abordar los problemas prioritarios que comparten e identificar áreas futuras de colaboración.

Ecuador y Estados Unidos concluyeron la reunión comprometiéndose a organizar un diálogo de pequeñas y medianas empresas (PYMEs) que incluya la participación de emprendedores indígenas y mujeres, resaltando la importancia de garantizar que los beneficios del comercio se extiendan a todos los sectores.

Joint Statement of the United States – Ecuador Trade and Investment Council Fifth Meeting, Washington, DC

WASHINGTON– On April 29, the United States and Ecuador held the fifth meeting of the United States-Ecuador Trade and Investment Council (TIC). The United States delegation was led by Cara Morrow, Senior Advisor at Office of the United States Trade Representative, and the Ecuadorian delegation was led by the Minister of Production, Foreign Trade, Investment and Fisheries, Sonsoles García. Both delegations included officials from other relevant agencies.

This meeting highlighted the importance of the relationship between Ecuador and the United States and our continued cooperation on bilateral issues, including implementation of the Protocol on Trade Rules and Transparency under the TIC, as well as our commitment to regional collaboration in the Americas Partnership for Economic Prosperity.

Technical dialogues were carried out on agriculture, intellectual property, labor issues, and environment. In addition, bilateral Committees on Labor Affairs, Environment, and Fair-Trade were established. Through these dialogues, the two countries reaffirmed their shared commitment to pursue a bilateral trade policy that is resilient, supports workers, protects our shared environment, and fosters equitable growth. Both countries agreed to continue technical dialogues within the framework of these Committees to address the priority issues they share and identify future areas of collaboration.

Ecuador and the United States concluded the meeting by committing to organize a small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) dialogue that includes the participation of Indigenous and women entrepreneurs, highlighting the importance of ensuring that the benefits of trade extend to all sectors.
